A quick shoutout to the Annoyance's Love is Dead: A NecRomantic Musical, which earned creators Andrew Hobgood, Julie Nichols and James Asmus a New York Fringe citation for Outstanding Music and Lyrics today, one day after the end of the festival.
Time Out New York, as is its habit, divided up the Fringe among 150 staffers of all stripes in order to review the whole fest online. Love is Dead pulled TONY marketing intern Gordie Steiner—who gave it one of the best reviews of the whole enchilada, reprinted in the magazine.
Congrats, guys, it's great to see you get that recognition. Funny that between the Tonys, the Obies, all the critics' circle awards, and now the FringeNYC Overall Excellence Awards, New York seems to be doing better at giving awards to deserving Chicago theater this year than Chicago is.
Oh, but Asmus—sorry TheatreMania called you "Lames."
